All members must fill out the following form and post it in their own thread. One character per a thread. Wait until your character is accepted by a staff member before roleplaying. If asked to modify your form by a staff member, comply accordingly or risk deletion of your form. You may change the joining form as much as you wish AS LONG as you have all of the information in it. You may add information, colors, formatting, whatever you wish, just be sure to include everything seen in the original joining form.

When creating your horse, the only "fantasy" elements you are allowed to add are oddly-shaped markings and unrealistic eye colors, as you must have the eye color that matches your Colony's color. However, there are many ways to add fantasy elements. The Agora allows almost limitless fantasy elements if you wish to add some to your horse. Wings, antlers, horns, fire manes, glowing eyes, unrealistic marking colors, and so much more! They are all cheap and can be found in the shops (sub-boards) located in the Agora. Money can be made quickly in Bring Home the Bacon.

All new members receive one free item from the Appearance category from the Catalog for their first character. It will not affect the Catalog's stock and it does not need to be actually purchased from the Agora. It can be an item that is either in stock or out of stock so long as it is from the Appearance category only. You will only receive a free item for your first character; if you do not wish to apply an Appearance item to your first character, you do not need to, but you are then forfeiting the free item then.

General Info

Name: Your character's full name. Please add a pronounciation chart if it is more than a standard name that is already a word, such as "Heart." If your name resembles something more like Vanyali, please explain how you would say it.

Nickname(s): Any nicknames your horse may have
Example: A horse named Bittersweet may have the nicknames Bit, Bitter, and Sweet.

Gender: Mare or stallion

Age: Any horse under the age of 4 is a foal; no horse may be older than 20

Breed: Purebred or a mix. You cannot say only unknown; you may say it in addition to another breed, like "Arabian and Unknown."

Height: Hands increase by fourths. For example, it would be 15 hh, 15.1 hh, 15.2 hh, 15.3 hh, then 16 hh. No horse may be shorter than 13 hh or taller than 18 hh unless you purchase an item for it. Certain breeds have general height guidelines; be sure to research the general height of the breeds you choose to ensure how realistic your horse is.

Coloring: You must choose a realistic coloring; an example would be chestnut or palomino.

Mane & Tail: The mane and tail must be a realistic color.

Markings: Your markings may be oddly-shaped, such as a spiral. To make them have an unrealistic color, you must purchase it.

Eyes: Your eye color is based on what Colony you are in. For example, if you are in the Incarnadine colony, your eyes must be a shade of red. Use this field to indicate what shade of your patron color your eyes are. For example, perhaps you have blood red eyes. If you are a Hybrid, one eye will be the color of one Colony and the other eye will be the color of the other Colony. For example, if your Colonies are Azure and Byzantium, one eye may be sky blue and the other may be deep violet.

Rank: If age four or older, this is most likely Citizen. If under age four, this is most likely Minor. This is not what rank you want; this is what rank you are. Unless otherwise stated, you are Citizen/Minor. If born from a Monarch or Consort, you are Brood.

Magic Level: This is most likely Apprentice unless you have bought the appropriate item or are a Brood/Heir of the appropriate age.

Colony: Incarnadine (red), Byzantium (purple), Azure (blue), Celadon (green), Aureolin (yellow). If a Hybrid, list both.

Personality: This may be bullet points or paragraph form. There is no length requirement but you must give a good idea of your character; if the staff evaluating your form does not feel the character is sufficiently expressed, they will ask you to give more detail.

History: This can be bullet points or paragraph form. You do not need to write an extensive history; give a general idea of what has happened in the past. Cover the major events. What has made your character the way they are? If you are posting a newborn foal that was just born on Metaphysical, then you do not need to write a history and may leave it blank.
Goal: What is the goal of your character? To gain a rank? To fall in love? Have foals? Get revenge? Become powerful? This doesn't necessarily mean what will happen, nor what you want for your character, but what your character wants for the future. It's alright if they do not know but please give as many details as you can.

can be any age because time is different on Meta compared to other lands
can have any history from off-site

"those that left" experienced different time, so some had years and some had barely any time pass at all. when they left the barrier, they were stripped of their colony stuff and regained it when returning. Characters can return as a different colony if desired, and that can be an IC twist. You don't have to have an original character to be 'returning' instead of brand new. can have NPCs that died and such

Before you may begin your biography, you must first create an OOC account for your overall non-character use. You will first choose your username, which cannot contain capitals, spaces, or symbols, and should not contain numbers. After the account is registered, you are able to assign a different "display name" to it. Usernames can never be modified and only function for tagging and selecting message recipients, whereas the display name is actually visible everywhere else on the site and can be stylized with capitals, spaces, and symbols. Your username and display name should match as much as possible or at least relate to each other to avoid confusion. For example, the display name ~RAIN!BOW~ would ideally be paired with the username "rainbow," but an acceptable alternative might be "rain." The word "yellow," however, would not be appropriate. You cannot change names once you are known by a particular moniker. It is unnecessarily disruptive and misleading to adopt a different identity when members recognize you by a specific name. You can always alter the root word's cosmetics, such as adding spaces or an adjective. Finally, you must post here to be added to the "roleplayer" membergroup.
Afterward, you may register your first IC account. Each character will always receive their own individual account. The account's username must match the character's name as closely as possible and cannot include numbers. Unlike roleplayers, character accounts cannot have stylized names.
All new accounts are initially ranked as "unsorted." While unsorted, you are restricted to posting exclusively in our Genesis board and you are denied access to several site functions, namely customization in your profile settings. OOC accounts are considered sorted once they are placed in the "roleplayer" membergroup. In contrast, characters are not sorted into any membergroup until their biography is accepted and their colony is established.
To begin drafting your biography, create a thread in Genesis using the relevant IC account. The thread's title must be your character's name without further stylization; this will also formally reserve your character's name so that others cannot use it. You may use the thread's "sub-text" option for further elaboration or flair if desired, including but not limited to: slogans, song lyrics, poetry, or personality summaries. Check our Member List and Genesis' existing WIP threads to ensure your character's name is not already taken.
If you wish to keep your biography private while crafting it, you can utilize our Lab board. All threads in the Lab are confidential, rendered invisible to anyone who is not the author or an administrator. Not only are your threads inaccessible to other members, they are unaware the threads even exist. Unfortunately, your character's name will not be reserved unless the thread is physically present in Genesis.
You must immediately apply the label "Work in Progress" unless the biography is already finished. Labels appear in a board's thread list and aid in organization when suitable, providing an easy overview of each relevant thread's purpose. Labels can be applied to existing threads through the "actions" menu or via the "labels" menu in the posting page. Threads can accommodate multiple labels. When viewing a thread list, you can click directly on a label so that only threads with that label are visible.
Next, label your thread with their corresponding colony once you have determined which they shall belong to. You can review our current statistics at the top of our homepage, in the header table's colony tabs. Information about each colony's theme and magic is given here. You can wait to apply a colony label if you are still undecided, and you can later switch colony labels if you change your mind. The label does not need to be finalized until you are ready to submit the biography for acceptance.
Fill out the below character creation form following the instructions given in the official example. You are required to thoroughly read the example form because it contains vital information, additional rules, and clarifies what each field means. If you fail to read the example form or you only skim it briefly, you will likely be rejected.
Upon first glance, the character creation form can be overwhelming because it is incredibly lengthy, but a large portion of it is entirely optional. Its hefty content helps some roleplayers flesh out their budding concepts and challenges writers to really delve into their character's mind. It is designed for those who enjoy composing biographies. However, we are aware that many others do not fancy biographies and would favor brevity! Therefore, we accommodate all preferences by designating a considerable amount of fields as "optional," and keeping only the important core fields as "mandatory." In fact, some entire tabs are optional. You are only obliged to fill out the fields marked "mandatory" in the official example form below. It is your choice whether you will include none, some, or all of the optional fields, as notated in the example form. For any optional field or tab you do not wish to answer, you can simply delete it. If desired, you can also add new fields of your choice that were not originally present in the default form.
Once completed and ready for review, remove the thread's "Work in Progress" label and apply the "Finished" label. Abandoned WIPs are only weeded out during rare activity checks located in Announcements, and they are merely archived, never deleted. You can always retrieve an archived biography by posting in Staff Summons.
All histories can be accommodated. Metaphysical is an isolated isle reached via portal, existing in harmony with any other world your character might originate from. Therefore, previous experiences and adventures are explained by alternate realms. These otherworld locations might pass time differently, thus accounting for characters who exceed our maximum age. Likewise, separate magics and appearances can occur elsewhere, which rationalizes any discrepancies in powers or physique. Once your character passes through the enchanted boundary encircling Metaphysical, and first steps through the World's Edge gateway, they will morph to match our restrictions. For example, if your character previously controlled water, they will be stripped of that ability and instead receive the sorcery of their new colony, and their in-character explanation is the transformation triggered by crossing the border. If you wish your character to be younger, or if their natural age surpasses our maximum, then the differences in time and space can adjust their physical "age" to one that fits within Metaphysical, while retaining their mental "age" and memories.
To survive the war, most characters fled the island and found shelter in other realms. Due to the variations in time's flow, some of these refugees may have endured years in other worlds, while others may have felt only minutes. Your character does not have to actually be an original 2011-2013 Version 1 participant; you can craft your own history from the pre-war era and have them "return," even if this is your first time on the site. Likewise, you may prefer to have this as your horse's first entry. For those who were V1 originals, you do not need to adhere to events that were actually roleplayed, and may concoct your own fictions for what occurred on Metaphysical before the war. Furthermore, as each equine would be freed of their colonial powers and bindings upon leaving, they might find themselves belonging to an entirely new colony when they rejoin.
Fantasy colors, markings, and variations in their eyes are always free. For example, a blue and purple horse that has pink stripes and whose eyes glow and lack pupils would not require any items. Further fantasy features will usually necessitate an item from the Agora, which is a marketplace split into shops run directly by individual members. Aesthetic characteristics and accessories are cheap, such as a mane comprised of feathers or a necklace. Features that provide advantages are more expensive, such as sharp horns that could be used for piercing or hard armor that might protect against blows. We do provide a Newbie Backpack to assist newcomers with their first character. If you cannot afford every item needed to replicate your character's original design, you might wait to earn enough money through our many Loot 'n' Booty systems. If you wish to instead roleplay immediately, you can temporarily remove those features and blame Metaphysical's barrier for their absence, then later reintroduce them. You can explain their reappearance as a gift from the gods, their old magic finally building enough strength to grow the missing features, or with any other excuse you feel is sufficient.
Your character's eyes must be a shade matching their colony's patron color. Aureolin is yellow, Celadon is green, Azure is blue, Mauveine is purple, and Incarnadine is red, which includes pink. They may range from near-white light to near-black dark, and from very vivid to completely desaturated. If a hybrid, each eye will match one of their colonies, such as one green and one yellow. Tri-hybrids must display all 3 colors however they choose, whether one eye be split in half between 2 colors and the other eye remain a solid color, if both eyes swirl all 3 colors together, or some other adaptation. As with all alterations, this change in their previous eye color can be justified by Metaphysical's transformative borders.
Your character's physical and magical assets cannot exceed their initial ability level or attributes, which are might, agility, and speed. Unless attained through purchase or a rank, all horses begin as an apprentice and are given 15 attributes to distribute amongst their 3 fields however they desire. Therefore, you cannot claim your character is faster, stronger, more dexterous, or more magically proficient than others unless this is certified by their actual ability level or attributes.

You must invest obvious effort and attention to detail in your biography. Perfection is not expected but it must have reasonable length and cannot have blatant typos, large detail omissions or contradictions, or poor or vague writing. Your character must have depth and originality.

It is advised to "select all > copy" your post before submitting it, whether writing it freshly or editing an existing post. Errors will sometimes interrupt your post while it is loading and you can lose the entire post if it is not saved elsewhere; you will be able to simply "paste" it with this method. Other options include writing your post in google docs or another off-site program.

When you are ready to submit your biography for review, remove the "Work in Progress" label, apply the "Finished" label, and post in Staff Summons. Please be patient. Staff responsibilities are divided; not every staff member is able to accept biographies. You are not being ignored, as staff are also roleplayers themselves with characters to write, and they will often be online but off-duty.
After acceptance, click "profile" at the top right of your screen, select the "edit profile" button, and ensure you are on the "fields" tab. Fill out all profile fields marked as mandatory before you make any further posts.

Log into your OOC account and navigate to "edit profile." Scroll to the "Characters" fields and add your new character.
