- You do not need to justify your absence, but explanations are always welcome.

- Please include a return date whenever possible, or at least a rough estimate. Understand that return dates are not obligations.

- For your away status to take effect and offer protection, you must enter your Bye Bye Birdie thread into the "Away Link" field located in your profile. This will generate a marker in your mini-profile that is publicly visible in all of your posts, alerting your fellow roleplayers who may otherwise expect a response.

- While it is mandatory to set the "Away Link" field, it is optional to fill out the "Return Date" field. If you do, it will be displayed in your mini-profile.

- You will not be penalized by the site for time-sensitive systems, such as battles, but Metaphysical will not interfere if other roleplayers choose to move forward with plots or threads without your character.

- Staff members, monarchs, consorts, and herd leaders are relieved of their standard activity requirements while away. However, inactivity harms the site exponentially, and extremely excessive absences may eventually necessitate a temporary or permanent abdication.
